New-ish Album of the Month
NEW-ISH ALBUM OF THE MONTH: JULY
JPEG MAFIA - ALL MY HEROES ARE CORNBALLS (2019)
Bro is wild. Peggy fucked my head up back in 18' with his tape "Veteran", so then I thought it was a good idea to go listen to his older 16' tape "Black Ben Carson." Guess what? That dumb shit did not help. Dude's production on everything completely fried my brain, and then on top of that, the flow was just as crazy. But enough about that, this is supposed to be about his new shit.

"All My Heroes Are Cornballs" bumps. That's it. That's the whole article.
But nah forreal, Peggy's been super influential to the way we approach music, and there's no denying his creativity and all the unique industrial shit he's brought to the table. Even outside of music, the way he attacks promos, videos, vlogs, features, all that shit is insane.
To cap it off, the album is true to the title. This fucking dweeb embraces all that internet culture bullshit like, "Beta Males", "Waifus", "Type Beats", & "Verified" sneaking into song title names. And if you know anything about me, just know I can't stand shit like that. Actually, that's part of the reason why I made this website. I hate internet culture so much, that I left and decided to try and start my own.
But as much as I hate shit like that, JPEG has always kinda done it. And it's always fire. So fuck it, I guess my hero is a cornball.
And I wouldn't have it any other way. ♥

Standout Tracks: Grimy Waifu, Beta Male Strats, BasicBitchTearGas
NEW-ISH ALBUM OF THE MONTH: AUGUST
DANNY BROWN - "UKNOWWHATIMSAYIN¿" (2019)
Danny's the shit. And a lot of shit sucks. So the fact that he's the shit and he's doing new, interesting shit, and he's not shit, that's the shit.

"Uknowwhatimsaying¿" is his latest album, and to keep it buck, I didn't think he could top his previous album "Atrocity Exhibition", but I was so wrong. And it's important to keep people wrong in this game, especially for somebody like Danny.

D.B. is an underdog, and we fucking love underdogs on this side. He's always been shit on for being 'too' weird, he got fucked out of most of money for taking artistic chances, and with every album, he shows a level of self awareness that most of your favorite artist could only dream of having. What more could you want?

Long story short, "Uknow?" is a long story short. It's pretty tight & compacted compared to his other albums , but it keeps it focused, and to the point. And the production is fucking bonkers, as usual.
I like that shit.
So l like this shit.

Standout Tracks: Combat, Dirty Laundry

NEW-ISH ALBUM OF THE MONTH: SEPTEMBER
RINA SAWAYAMA - "SAWAYAMA" (2020)
Man, finding NEW music this year (that's worth a shit) has been a pain in the ass. I've been diving through all the alt classics, and shit like Mudhoney or The Melvins, or even Elliot Smith, completely blow all the new bullshit out of the water. Part of that is me competitive, but really 2020's music has been remarkably terrible. BUT, with that being said, there has been a bright spot, and her name is R-I-N-A.

Somehow she popped up on my radar a few months ago, and these tracks are fucking genius. "STFU" literally fuses bubblegum Brittney Spears with a Korn style nu-metal breakdown... and it works? "XS" is probably my manic song-worm of the year. If I hear that track, it's stuck in my head for at least 3 days. "Tokyo Love Hotel" paradoxically gives me nostalgia for a song that came out this year. It's wild.

I'm not a big pop-music fan, so I'm not even quite sure what the scope of this album is. Normally, that doesn't really matter to me, but that kind of thing is important when really judging pop albums. Their effect the mainstream, is really the only litmus test that matters. Genre boxes are dumb, but reformatting old-familiar styles, and injecting new faces, is kinda the common game of any genre. But this feels like a little more than that. On top of that, apparently she got snubbed by the BRIT awards for being to Asian (even though she lived in the UK for 25 years), but obviously that makes me fuck with her even more.

Whatever man, inject this girly shit right into my veins. Its just too dope.

Standout Tracks: XS, STFU, Tokyo Love Hotel

NEW-ISH ALBUM OF THE MONTH: OCTOBER
toro y moi - "Soul trash" (2019)
New music still trash. At least we got soul trash.

Toro's music is always fire, so new shit is always welcome. On this project they got a little lose with that shit on "elijah therapy", but I guess I kinda got over it, because the rest of the tape slaps.
Pretty quick listen, good music, and badass visuals to boot. Idk man, check it out.
